Alvin Ray Davis Aug.7, 1948-Aug.20, 2008
Alvin “Ray” Davis, 60, was born in Turlock on August 7, 1948 and grew up in Delhi. He graduated from Livingston High and enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served two tours in the Vietnam War. Ray earned numerous honors including a bronze star and two purple hearts before returning to the states and making his home in Taft, California. He soon married his soul-mate Robin, and became an integral part of the oilfield community. Ray was an ultimate outdoorsman and loved motorcycle riding, hunting and fishing. Ray retired from AERA Energy in 2007 and soon went to work in the oilfields of Oman where he passed away on August 20, 2008.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife Robin of Taft, daughter Christy Morassco and son-in-law Jason of Bakersfield, and Parents-in-law Bob and Mozelle Connick also of Taft. He is also survived by brothers: Billy Joe Davis, Roy Davis and wife Sam, and J.R. Davis all of Delhi, also by sisters: Catherine Emberson of Taft, Qula Quenzinger of Turlock, and Verna Black and husband Whittie of Turlock. Finally, by an infinite number of family and friends who will forever love and remember their real-life Superman “Uncle Ray.” Graveside services were held at the West Side District Cemetery in Taft on August 28, 2008. The family requests anyone wishing to make donations to do so to your local homeless veteran’s shelter or animal shelter.
