The Rainforest Adventure has drawn in lots of people. Children and adults alike were sliding their way into the rainforest, designed locally and featuring live animals and reptiles. one handler showed people a large scorpion. He talked about how this particular type of scorpion is used in Hollywood because it isn’t particularly harmful to people. Because it has large claws, it doesn’t have as potent a venom as other scorpions. Other animals include a sloth, an alligator, as well as various frogs and snakes.

The 2009 Stanislaus County Fair runs now through Sunday, August 9. The theme Renewable Fun can be seen everywhere. There are recycling containers around, many booths offer re-usable bags (great for grocery shopping!) and we even saw bark made from old tires.
Tomorrow is Cancer Survivors Day, sponsored by Emanuel Regional Cancer Services and the first 1,000 guests will receive a gift.
