Christian band the newsboys took to the Budweiser Free Variety Stage tonight. The band welcomed Michael Tait as their new lead singer and he was introduced to start the concert played to a packed house at the Stanislaus County Fair.

News Boys
Tait formerly performed with dc Talk and has had a successful solo career.
The band performed hits including “He Reigns” and “Breakfast” after opening with a prayer and by singing “Something Beautiful.”
Later in the concert, Tait took a few moments to encourage the audience.
“Parents, love your kids,” he said. “And kids, cherish your parents.”
Tait spoke of losing his father to cancer 10 years ago before going on to say, “True love will never, ever fail. True love wins.”
The band then performed “He Reigns.”

News Boys
The enthusiastic crowd sang along with many of the songs. Perhaps one of the most moving moments came as all joined in to sing the popular worship song, “Blessed Be Your Name.”
Lyrics include:
“Blessed Be Your Name, In the land that is plentiful, Where Your streams of abundance flow…
Blessed Be Your name, When I’m found in the desert place, Though I walk through the wilderness…”
Tait took a moment to give thanks and praise to God during the song along with many in the crowd.
In addition to playing a variety of newsboys hits from throughout the years, they also played some dc Talk highlights and introduced a new song called “Dance.”
In other fair action tonight, the Destruction Derby I: Traditional Turmoil drew a packed house (as always) into the FoodMaxx Arena, No Taboo performed on the CenCal Center Stage and Suzy Haner did her two nightly hypnosis shows. People of all ages were once again enjoying the Stanislaus County Fair. Temperatures were perfect for an evening at the fair and there was something for everyone. The Rainforest continues to draw people in to check out the various animals.
Tomorrow at the fair: Rick Springfield will take the Budweiser Free Variety Stage at 8:30 p.m., Destruction Derby II: Metal Mayhem will entertain the crowd at the FoodMaxxArena and various 4-H and FFA judging will take place. The fair runs through Sunday, August 9. It opens at 5 p.m. during the week and at noon on Saturday and Sunday.
