The Delhi Express began in 1965. It was started by John M. Derby. Just shy of the newspaper’s 40th birthday, it came under new ownership. MidValley Publications and Mr. Derby sold the paper to Darrel and Rebekah McCurdy. The McCurdys started Mustard Seed Publishing and The Delhi Express is the first publication produced by MSP. (The McCurdys are now also publishing a church newsletter for Christ the King Community Episcopal Church in Riverbank.)

In 2006, some changes came about for the local publication. It transitioned from a broadsheet weekly publication to a tabloid-sized monthly publication with a website. In the Spring of 2008, some changes were implemented to make the website more efficient and to offer more options to readers of the online edition. The Delhi Express now offers a Community Forum through the website. We are looking at adding some more features this summer to make it even more interactive.

The Delhi Express is Delhi’s premiere source for local news and information. We believe that the news should be available at no cost to the readers and therefore, there are no charges for looking up stories on our website in addition to the fact that the printed publication is available for free. It can be picked up at just about any location in Delhi. Restaurants, stores and other businesses should have the newspaper available for you. A partial list includes: M&M Corner Mini Mart, Cottonwood Liquor, Perfect Blend Coffee Shop, Delhi Drug, Delhi County Water District, the Elegant Bull Restaurant, Chachi’s Sports Pub and Deli, Rico’s Pizza, Flicks and Licks, KB Wireless. During the school year, a stack is taken to each school site. If you are having trouble finding the current edition or if you are looking for a previous edition, please call us at 209-678-7190 and we will make sure you get the copy you need. You can also contact us through the website or e-mail us at mustardseedpub@gmail.com.

We appreciate our advertisers and readers. And, to you all, we say THANK YOU. We would not be here without you!

The Delhi Express now features photos and articles from journalism students at Delhi High School. The Editorial Staff has teamed up with the VOICE Program at DHS for an after-school and summer journalism program. The students not only assist with writing and photography duties, but have also come up with story ideas and ideas for the website. Some of the website ideas will be incorporated into the site in the coming months.
